The land adjacent to the Lidl store on Poole Road, Branksome is a site that Caleb has been pursuing for Mansell since late 2007. Finally exchanging contracts early in 2011, Mansell subsequently submitted an application for 41 apartments which, despite little opposition at the public consultation, was initially refused.
This process has allowed us, however, to have a detailed dialogue with the planning officers and we are confident that the proposals submitted at the beginning of this year for 36 apartments should be approved by June.
If the scheme proceeds to site in the summer as hoped, it will be one of several this year that form the new Mansell Homes brand for the south of England. The site was home to the art deco head office of Southernprint, which closed at the end of last century.
Prior to this the site was believed to have housed a late Victorian Villa. This is the last phase of development with the Lidl store and Banner Homes retirement housing having formed the first two phases some time ago. At one time the site was earmarked for a drive through fast food restaurant.
