The first successfully completed scheme was Fiveways Garage in Weymouth, which was the site of the former Toyota dealership. Consent had been obtained for twenty apartments including six affordable homes which we had negotiated on behalf of the former owners.
We worked closely with the Council and their preferred RSL to create an enhanced scheme of twenty seven apartments including eight affordable homes. This increase in numbers benefitted not only the landowners and developers, but also the local community.
We coordinated the land acquisition with Mansell’s solicitors, Freeth Cartwright and project managed the planning and design team (DLM Design / Tanner & Tilley Planning Consultants), as well as negotiating the details of the affordable housing provision with the Council.
Subsequently, due to the challenging market conditions that emerged in 2008, a strategic decision was made to dispose of the entire project to Magna Housing Association. This ensured that an early land sale receipt was achieved, whilst also securing a valuable building contract.
