Since working for a housing association and various national house builders during the 1990s, we’ve used our knowledge and experience to provide specialist advice on affordable housing obligations for over thirty clients since the turn of the 21st Century.
Clients have ranged from private land owners to regional developers to national house builders. In the past, much of this advice has focussed upon satisfying affordable housing policies in relation to retirement housing. Recently it has often been more about understanding viability than meeting housing policies.
We’ve negotiated settlements for clients that enabled their schemes to proceed with a healthy profit, whilst securing valuable housing resources for the local community. Most of this work is undertaken prior to or during the planning application process, but we have also acted as expert witnesses for clients as part of their planning appeal team.
The challenging economic climate has focussed developer's attentions on minimising affordable housing provision .We have presented numerous financial studies to assist in these negotiations.
